Amelia – Commonwealth Times – Words and photos by Cheats
Every once in a while, I get to break out the Cheats Movement camera and shot a truly amazing scene. Yesterday, I was invited to check out a preview of the latest VMFA exhibition: The Art of the Flower. This spectacular presentation represents the first major American exhibition to explore French still life painting in the 19th-century. It’s truly a stunning exhibition featuring more than 60 flower paintings by more than 30 artists, including well-known painters such as Eugène Delacroix, Gustave Courbet, Henri Fantin-Latour, Édouard Manet, Vincent van Gogh, and Henri Matisse, as well as less familiar figures such as Antoine Berjon and Simon Saint-Jean.*
In classic Cheats Movement fashion, while most people were doing their proper research and taking photos of the stunning works of art. I was looking at the very distinguished cast of characters milling about the museum, trying to figure out who I could photograph that represented not only the exhibition but the preview event itself. Below are snapshots of my fearless subjects. Thanks to them all.
Do yourself a huge favor and visit this beautiful exhibition at the VMFA. It’s well worth the price of admission. #WESEEIT
