HIP HOP HENRY’S PICK OF THE WEEK: SEGGA SPICCOLI “ON THE EASTSIDE (SIDE A)”

“Walk around the Rich tryna get rich…”

The EP starts off with Pimp C’s classic radio interview in Atlanta some years ago which sets the tone of the realness of this project, only 5 songs deep each track tells of early struggles growing up in RVA while still flossing having the dreams of making it. Segga delivers on tracks like vivid images on the opener “Geno Green” and “In School Suspension” (I spent a few days there) about growing up in Richmond, survival and having to work with what you got to keep going. On the flip side, you will always get some of the coolest songs from Segga and he comes through once again with thanks to “Skinny V” and my favorite “High Pitchy Fly Sh*t” which finds you wanting to drive down Broad St. with the windows down.

Like the majority of projects that come from The Life Company, the production is on point; laid back, breezy beats brought to you by Apoc Krysis, Bandolero & IGNORVNCE. If you need a quick project to cruise to check the stream below and roll. #WeSeeIt –Follow @HipHopHenry
