9th Wonder and Young Guru‘s interview with the Rap Radar Podcast is simply the best thing I’ve seen/heard this week. 9th and Guru are truly cut from the same cloth when it comes to understanding music. They are both geniuses, and I try not to throw that word around lightly. They are both educators – at the collegiate level – and both have amazing new projects to champion – 9th is champion Rapsody’s new album Laila’s Wisdom and Guru is still riding the 4:44 wave. Guru is now getting ready to, once again, go on tour with HOV. There are too many gems in the interview to start running them down but what stands out to me is the real respect and friendship that 9th and Guru have with each other. In the industry of hip-hop, true friends, and it seems genuine people, are hard to come by. Both 9th and Guru surround themselves with good people and it shows.
I must admit that while I have a lot of respect of B. Dot, he never really shines to me during the Rap Radar podcast. And that could be because he is sitting beside one of the GOAT’s in the industry, Elliott Wilson. Wilson always seems to shine through in these types of conversations. His experience and relationships always give me insight that I didn’t see coming.
If you don’t have Tidal yet, this interview along with the HOV interview and the 4:44 footnotes are enough to justify.
