RVA PLAYLIST CELEBRATED 3 YEARS IN “RVA MUSIC” STYLE
Congrats to my friend Andrew Cothern. His blog RVA Playlist just celebrated 3 years. His music blog is one of the best in RVA and Andrew has become a major player within the RVA music community. His passion for local music is always on display, his blog covers all genres, and often introduces new bands to RVA. Rightfully so, a large crowd came out Wednesday night to show their support for Andrew’s work. I’m certain he will have many more great years to come. Shout out to Anousheh, Long Arms, Horsehead, and James Ward for keep the crowd moving. CLICK HERE TO VIEW ALL OF THE CHEATS MOVEMENT PHOTOS OF THIS GREAT NIGHT.
A great acoustic set led off the night ft. Ward Harrison (Hackensaw Boys)
Anousheh is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands in RVA.

PHOTOS: RVA PLAYLIST BIRTHDAY PARTY FT. AGAINST GRACE, DEAD FAME, & MARIONETTE
It was a who’s who of RVA music at The Camel last night to celebrate the 2nd birthday of RVA Playlist. If you are not aware, RVA Playlist is what I call, “the RVA music people’s music blog.” It is run by my friend Andrew Cothern. Andrew and I met in January of last year thanks to the Richmond Comedy Coalition and we have been friends ever since.
Last night the RVA music scene came out in full force to support Playlist and to see some amazing RVA bands: Against Grace (helped out by my man Doe the Paperboy), Dead Fame, and Marionette. Let me just say, I had never seen Dead Fame or Against Grace play live before and I am sold on them both. I first saw Marionette play last year at the K&B showcase and they are great. Andrew did a great job with the line up and on best of all, the show was free.
Side Note: It’s always nice to meet a fellow RVA blogger that I feel like I know from twitter and Facebook – S/O to to Your Hear That blog. So great to meet you last night.

RVA Living History: The Cheats Movement X Grape Cloth [Part 1]
There are some parts of running The Cheats Movement that are pretty difficult – balancing out time – deciding when to post what material – and of course, always searching for RVA content that is new, exciting for me to post, and interesting for you to view. However, there are some things that come together and you know instantly – this works; today’s post is one of them. I’ve wanted to highlight Grape Cloth since the start of this blog. Iain Duffus, the founder and co-owner, of Grape is truly a self made entrepreneur. He, along side his wife, started Grape as a way to escape the corporate world and work for themselves, their family, and their community. This is Part 1 of my interview with Iain. I caught up with him outside of the Camel while he was co-sponsoring an event featuring local hip-hop artist. Grape Cloth represents what The Cheats Movement Blog is all about – highlighting diversity and originality, uplifting our community and making RVA a better, more positive place. Go visit www.GrapeCloth.com and support the vision.
PSIMDOPE is on the Cheats Movement! [PS - She is Dope]
The first thing that got me was the Kulture – RUN RVA piece. The next thing that got me was her swag – she seems to know everyone and shows everyone love - so I just started shooting. After I introduced myself it turned out that Janice “PSIMDOPE” Cartwright had seen the site just the other day and posted this on twitter: “who is the cheats movement?! #askRVA” That’s crazy! PS is DOPE! Her art is amazing! And she just got blessed with a hookup from super-producer 9th Wonder – look for that album art. She is RVA Talent indeed – Check out PSIMDOPE site by clicking HERE. Nice meeting you PS!
