MISSY NEFF GOULD ON RVA’S COMMUNITY (2013)

To me community can mean many things, but at its core community means unique people working together for the common good.

Is a project bringing people together in a positive or transformative way? If yes – that’s the embodiment of community.

I’ve recently been working with a group of people to help bring a new organization to the RVA. I think the folks involved with the Richmond Community ToolBank (http://www.richmond.toolbank.org/) embody the spirit of community. Once we are up and running the ToolBank will be helping folks throughout the area build community projects, improve the community’s environment, and provide improved housing for members throughout the community. Harnessing unique individuals, interests and passions to create something new – How can you not get inspired by that type of engagement? – Missy Neff Gould, CRT/tanaka
