So I will be the first to admit that I have been really blessed throughout my entire life. I have had some amazing opportunities, met some wonderful and life changing people, and have had several once in a lifetime experiences. I believe that I have these experiences for no real specific reason at all – many of them I didn’t “earn” or “deserve” more than anyone else. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time – doing the right thing. Trust me, while I am very appreciative and grateful for these opportunities that I have had, it doesn’t mean that I don’t take them for granted from time to time because I do. I take too many of these opportunities too lightly until something jolts me and puts everything back in perspective. Yesterday was one of those days. I had the opportunity to attend the President’s rally in Henrico. As you know, I enjoy taking a photo or two and the opportunity to photograph the President of the United States – 10 minutes away from my home – is an opportunity that “never happens.” I will admit that I have attended a Presidential rally before in Richmond and wasn’t 100% sure if I even wanted to attend yesterday. A phone call for my parents earlier in the week got me to inquire about a ticket and I actually was able to get one – but it wasn’t until I was there that I realized how special it was to be there. I saw young kids that were so excited to be able to have the opportunity to see as one kid put it, “the most powerful man in all of the galaxy.”  I saw senior citizens crying just to be there and of course, all of us there stood in pretty heavy rain for a few hours to see the President. My point is that it was clearly a mistake for me to take the opportunity or any of these types of opportunities for granted. It may not be attending a rally with the President, it might be dinner with a friend or a home visit with your family. It may be a phone call or something you don’t even think is that important but my advise is to really appreciate the good stuff in your life. It makes everything really so much better.

Really cute little girl waits for the President in Henrico yesterday! She’s just chillin with her snack.
