CLASSICAL MUSIC MEETS RICHMOND HIP-HOP IN THE PREMIERE EPISODE OF ‘THE REMIX AT ORBITAL PARK’

Two of Richmond’s most notable music entities collaborated for a brand new reality-style documentary. Classical Revolution and RVA Rap Elite came together under a cloud of mystery to create a new song; in only four hours. The entire process was recorded at Orbital Music Park in an entertaining reality-show format, and now you can now watch the inaugural show via YouTube.

AGM super-producer NameBrand, along with RVA Rap Elite founder Radio B, created a powerful hip-hop track titled “Stranger Things” from live samples created by Classical Revolution. The documentary provides insight into how the song was made. The show also features exclusive commentary from a special Cheats Movement Podcast episode recorded at OPM feature Radio, Tom Illmensee from OMP, and members of Classical Revolution.

While this is the first episode of “The Remix at Orbital Music Park,” it will not be the last. OPM founder Tom Illmensee hopes to build the series with other musical collaborations in the future.

Classical music and hip-hop meet on a blind date. What happens next? Watch our documentary to find out what happens when you put a string quartet, an MC, and a producer in the same room for four hours! (Spoiler alert: amazing things! Or should we say Stranger Things?) This project was supported in part by the CultureWorks Grants Program. This project was supported in part by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
