A lot of hip-hop artists in Richmond are figuring out the best way to define their voice during this time of global unrest. I have built an appreciation for artists that do not shy away from the moment and choose to make music that speaks directly to the climate we are living in today. I’m biased, but I find myself listening more to Public Enemy and Run The Jewels than “feel good” music right now.
