NEW ERA’S MLB LIGATURE COLLECTION IS MAKING A WHOLE NEW MARK

New Era is always figuring out new ways to shake up the hat industry. In the case of the MLB Ligature Collection, the iconic brand has pushed its design team to new heights. The Ligature Collection, released last year, uses never before marks to create signature hats for every MLB baseball team.

Earlier this week, I spoke to New Era’s Senior Business Manager Mike Savio who explained that each MLB club had to personally approve their clubs’ ligature hat because the new product created a new mark that has never been placed on a hat before.

Each hat features a team color fabrication with a unique mark inspired by each team’s official wordmark and font embroidered at the front panels, a matching New Era flag at the left-wear side and their official wordmark at the rear.

The MLB Ligature Collection is aesthetically pleasing and strikes the perfect balance between contemporary and retro. Over half of the collection possesses a Cooperstown or Negro League feel, but the collection has never been done before. Savio hinted that there may be new iterations of the ligature collection in the future, new colorways, and possibly new spins on the creative design. On-field use is never out of the question either. It all depends on how the series makes its mark. For now, the collection is available in the classic 59FIFTY Fitted, 9FIFTY Snapback and Low Profile 59FIFTY as well as 39THIRTY Stretch Fit and 9TWENTY. #WESEEIT
