THE KNICKS GOT THE MELO TRIBUTE RIGHT LAST NIGHT

I’m not a  Patrick Ewing Knicks fan – or a John Starks Knicks fan or even Charles Oakley. I have a lot of respect for the cloth but I became a Knicks fan during the dark days of Allen Houston, Latrell Sprewell, and Steve Francis, orchestrated by Isaiah Thomas. Then we got that glimmer of hope with the acquisition of Amar’e Stoudemire and then came Carmelo Anthony and everything changed (except us not winning a championship). Not only was I Knicks fan but, in Melo, I had a player that embodied everything I loved about being a Knicks fan. I followed the ups and downs of the squad religiously. Melo is, was, and forever will be, the truth on the court. And offensive savant. And yes, there are limits to his game and his greatness but he handled the New York landscape with grace and class – even when that same grace and class was not offered to him by Phil Jackson and James Dolan. I’m glad that the Garden got it right last night and the Gotham City crowd gave him the tribute he earned. #WESEEIT #STAYMELO
