A JUNETEENTH ART INSTALLATION FROM DREAM FOR PURPOSE

Dream For Purpose, a research-led creative house ran by husband-wife duo Ricky & Whitney Parker, has a message to share with the world for Juneteenth 2020, but felt it was necessary to begin the conversation in the historic Jackson Ward district of Richmond, VA.

The “Black Is Beautiful” art installation (currently on display on the corner of Chamberlayne and Jackson Street) serves as a positive affirmation to the Black community. The goal of the exhibit is to empower as well as educate as we celebrate Juneteenth. Too often the imagery seen in advertising and media excludes positive aspects or messaging of being Black, especially in America.

We feel that it is our responsibility to cultivate positive imagery and messaging of what it means to Black.
