“The 19-song album, which is the follow up to 2015’s Beautiful, features the previously released single, “Sirens” and boasts fresh production from NameBrand, Nickelus F, JL Hodges, Mitchy Luv, EPTheOutkast, Melodic, DJ Punisha and Sycho Sid.” –via Michael Millions Soundcloud link
Today was my first time ever listening to Michael Millions and I’m loving it. For lack of better words he seems to be “more spiritual than lyrical” in that he offers a slow and steady delivery in which you can feel every word. I immediately connected to the album’s opener, “Sirens”, as a born-and-raised native of Richmond. It’s obvious that his mission is much bigger than him with the many references to individuals in his life battling incarceration who he speaks for and with but he simultaneously showcases his personal journey, embodying the album’s title. The D’Angelo influence is obvious, which he has stated in previous interviews, and I can always appreciate an incorporation of D’Angelo’s sound. The album is soulful, inspiring, and devastating all in one as Millions captures the countless struggles this city and its residents are facing. Listeners can definitely bump this as they navigate their personal journey to success.
Thanks for the comment. And I agree. Amazing “soulful/spiritual” project. #WESEEIT
