IN HIS OWN WORDS: EASALIO TALKED ABOUT HIS NEW ALBUM “FLY”

I call Richmond MC Easalio the cadence king. Once his rhyme flow hits the pocket, it’s truly hypnotic. I’ve seen him destroy more than a few cyphers where he was not the top-billed going in but he was the most remembered after it was over. For his latest album, Fly, released last month, I wanted to do something different. I reached out to Eas and asked him to tell us, in his own words, how he felt about a few of the tracks.

It’s clear that Easalio put meticulous focus into each of Fly’s 9 tracks. His unique approach to this body of work has resulted in his most well-rounded project to date. But, I’ll let him tell it.

Easalio in his own words:

Moon: “When I first heard the beat I knew I wanted to rap to it, I didn’t know what to rap about though. I just had the thought of talking to a woman in a void with nothing else around, saying “baby” at the end of every bar and the hook just kinda happened organically.”

Iight Then ft. Radio B: “This was actually the first track recorded for the project. It was recorded a few years ago. It was as simple as (me) coming up with some dope lyrics, a hook and asking a good friend (Radio B) to toss me an ill ass verse.

So Nice ft. Cole Hicks and Michael Millions: I was not going to put this tack on the album initially. I only did the verse so I could let my homie Qwan hear it because he wasn’t too fond of the beat he made. Cole (Hicks) was over the crib chillin one day and heard the verse and said she wanted to throw a verse on it. She recorded her verse at Mike’s (Millions) crib and when he heard it he wanted to put a verse on it too (haha). So the track got made. I wish that I would have let Nickelous f hear it early on too because he was a little mad he wasn’t on it (haha).

Space: This was a beat that I was vibing out to and had bars for a while. I was Mike’s crib and decided to lay it down as the last recording for the project. Mike convinced me to put it on the project and a lot of people have gravitated towards it. I was inspired by the feel of the sample.
