NEW VIDEO: 10K.ZURI STRESSES EMPATHY AND EMPOWERMENT IN VISUAL FOR “TIME”

Earlier this year, I profiled 10k.Zuri, the driving force behind Beats, Rhythm, and Life, a Richmond-based hip-hop movement for youth. At the time, 10K was gearing up for a big 2020, and the release of her first album. Well, the craziness of 2020 may have slowed down a number of things, including Beats, Rhythm, and Life live shows, but 10K has pushed forward, releasing As the World Turns, and now a new visual for the track “Time.”

The video is directed by 10k and Heriberto Solis. The cinematic visual plays like a short film, weaving together stories of a young woman facing family stress, and a young man facing the pressures of the streets. 10k serves as the narrator of the story. Among the interlocking stories, images of Marcus-David Peters Circle serves as an appropriate backdrop to show powerful images of Richmond youth.

This is 10k’s first music video, and it does a great job highlighting a powerful message that will last long beyond this summer of unrest. #WESEEIT
