PHILADELPHIA PRINTWORKS IS THE SOCIAL JUSTICE HERITAGE BRAND WE ALL NEED IN 2020

If you follow this blog, chances are you do in part because of the New Legacy collaboration with Noah Scalin. Using brand equity to advocate for social justice is a noble mission. Using brand equity to advocate for social justice and to support other small businesses is the mission at Philadelphia Printworks.

PPW was founded by Maryam Pugh and Ruth Paloma Rivera-Perez in 2010. Pugh told Phillyvoice.com in 2016 that they originally started the company because they love DIY culture, wanted to learn how to screenprint, and make a positive impact on our community. Years later, the goal to make a positive impact remains and has evolved to encourage a culture of activism and inclusion through the brand.

I first heard of PPW in 2016, I picked up a super-dope Dr. Yaba Blay x PPW Professional Black Girl Crew for my wife, Aria. I’ve been following their brand ever since. PPW has been featured all over but still maintains an intimate, family feel. Their products and mission are definitely worth supporting every year, but 2020 has been a real drain on Black small businesses and our collective spirits. As Black people, PPW is a brand that is truly needed right now.

As you do your last-minute holiday shopping, make sure you check out Philadelphia Printworks, another brand after my own heart. #WESEEIT
