SNAPSHOT: STRETCH AND BOBBITO AND THE M19 BAND’S DEBUT PERFORMANCE AT THE CLUB AT STUDIO K (KENNEDY CENTER)

Earlier this month, legendary DJs (and NYC hip-hop royalty) Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia released their debut album No Request, featuring the M19 Band.

On January 17th, I made my way up I-95 to attend their album release show at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. The show was an amazing arrangement to Latin, Afro-beat, jazz and reggae reinterpretations (not covers) of classic compositions alongside original creative compositions.

While the album plays nicely in the car or cleaning the house, there is no comparison to being in the room while a live session is being played in front of you by the M19 band. The night was a true sonic experience. Stretch and Bobbito brought out more than a few friends: Grammy Award winner Mireya Ramos, Maimouna Youssef, and DJ Rich Medina were all in the building doing their parts on the album. It was an amazing night of laughs, dance, and sound. And the Club at Studio K was the perfect venue.
