#WESEEIT DAILY: JULY 9, 2018 – BACK ON THE GRIND & I HAVE DINER EN BLANC ENVY
Welcome back! That’s actually more for me than you. I’m returning back to my fairly normal routine after the 4th of July week. There was a lot of family time, a date night with the wife, a visit to the Hardywood Westcreek, Manchester Manifest, a rap battle, a flying squirrels game, Saturday night fireworks, and a few new Cheats Movement opportunities. All-and-all, it was a good break from the grind but I’m back. And here is what is interesting to me right now:
The biggest thing that has my interest is an article that I can’t read. My friend Mark Robinson of the RTD, a dope writer, published a piece on the redevelopment of the Richmond Coliseum. The headline is, “Coliseum redevelopment group led by Dominion Energy CEO wants city to use Dominion property taxes for project.” That’s all know because I’m not a digital subscriber of the RTD. I’ll track down a hard copy of the article today but I definitely want to read it. I get the sense from some of the online comments that the article questions the transparency of the deal. Mark, and another good friend Don Harrison, of WRIR, had some public back-and-forth on Facebook, something about WRIR’s critique of the RTD’s Stoney Administration coverage, which falls on Mark as the city hall reporter so I get the back-and-forth but it’s a stark reminder to me that Richmond is small and sensitive. My two cents is that both Mark and Don are really freakin good at what they do, and they should both keep doing it. Richmond is better for it. With that, I can’t wait to read the article and give some feedback either on my podcast.
Moving On:
I scrolled through a lot of pictures of you fancy-ass people, all dressed in white for Diner en Blanc Richmond this weekend. You know who you are! It looked amazing on Boulevard (in front of the Virginia Museum of History and Culture). If I sound bitter, it’s because my invite must have gotten lost in the mail (ha). I am only partly joking but in all seriousness – I passed on the event last year but I’m mad jealous this year. I see you Enjoli (and all those who organized the event) — Amazing work!. It really looked amazing and you’ve outdone yourself again. Oh, but yes, I’m still hating until I get to go. Please hastag #DinerEnBlancRichmond on IG and Facebook to see some amazing photos.
Moving On:
Am I the only one in the world that is asking: How did those boys get stuck in a cave in the first place? That is crazy.
Finally,
As of this morning, the President has not selected his SCOTUS pick. This whole thing is problematic. It’s low-key stressful until the pick is made, then it will be high-key stress.
Until next time…#WESEEIT
