BLACK EXCELLENCE: HOV SELLS 50% OF ARMAND DE BRIGNAC TO LVMH

He’s not a businessman — he’s a business, MAN!

Hov has struck again. The news broke this morning that Jay-Z has sold 50% of Armand de Brignac, AKA Ace of Spades, to LVMH, AKA Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

The financial terms are undisclosed, but I’m sure it’s a lot.

According to the NYT’s Style section, ” The deal gives Jay-Z the organizational support and distribution power of a global drinks “machine,” as Mr. Phillippe Schaus, the chief executive of LVMH, called it, while LVMH gets the cool clout and lifestyle marketing savvy of a pace-setting Black cultural leader at a time when the luxury sector’s racism is under particular scrutiny.” In other words, the partnership is mutually beneficial.

An interesting part of this release is that Jay-Z did an interview. Jay-Z rarely does uncontrolled interviews these days. He normally sits down with just a few people on the record, most paid by Roc Nation (Rap Radar’s Elliot Wilson or Power’s Angie Martinez). This morning Hov was on CNBC. That’s right — CNBC got the scoop. Wow, how the world has changed. #WESEEIT
