BLACK EXCELLENCE: RICHMOND’S OWN KEITH RAMSEY GETS A MARTHA STEWART CO-SIGN

I love when good things happen to great people. Keith Ramsey has been putting in quality work in Richmond’s art community for years, and this week, the VCU alumnus was recognized by Martha Stewart’s digital home (MarthaStewart.com) in a feature titled “Nine Black Artists Creating Incredible Things for Your Home.”

The article writes, “For Keith M. RAMSEY, who also goes by RAMSEY, art is in his blood. After decades of collecting antiques and old metals, he discovered steam punk in 2012—and the rest was history. “I created what I called ‘found punk,’ which has become my signature style—art created for everyday living that invites people to ‘rethink’ how art is used,” he says of his metalwork and paintings. “My commitment is to initiating conversation through the artwork created.”

RAMSEY also made significant news last year for using his welding skill and artistic talent to help first responders working on the frontlines of the COVID pandemic. He built frames used in a pilot program to decontaminate N95 masks, which are essential to health care workers.

Anyone that knows Keith knows of his big heart. This recent recognition is well-deserved. #WESEEIT
