ILLA STYLES – “FURIOUS STYLES” FT. NICKELUS F

It’s electrifying to see two Cap City hip-hop heavyweights link up on a new track. For years, Illa Styles and Nickelus F have been turning heads with their lyrical darts. “Furious Styles” off of Illa’s Mind Your Reality project is a quick interchange of lyrical sword sharpening. And it couldn’t come at a better time. Through IG message, Illa told me how the track came together, “(It) initially came together by way of DJ Banga, who told us we needed to work together. At first, Nick produced a record for me on Quarter ‘Til a Mil called “The Last Run,” then we started doing a couple of jawns together,” Illa said. Illa continued, “Furious Styles” is the first of a few (jawns) to be released to the masses. The title is both a play on our names — and in the sequencing of Mind Your Reality; it comes after a song about gentrification, which is why we went with the Lawrence Fishbourne character from Boyz in the Hood on the cover art,” Styles concluded.

It’s easy for me to think Styles and F working together is overdue. But there is something about this timing that makes their collaboration appropriate for the times we’re in right now. I’m glad to see these two giants link up, and I’m looking for to more heat. #WESEEIT
