JOHN MARSHALL HIGH IS READY TO “TAP IN” THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR WITH VIRAL VIDEO

Let’s face it, we don’t have much to be excited about regarding this upcoming school year. COVID-19 is still here and thriving. Due to the virus’s ability to spread quickly and uncertainty around its long-term effects, most school districts in the Richmond region have made the correct decision to go virtual to start the year.

While I firmly believe this is the right decision for children, teachers, administrators, facility, and support staff, as a parent, who is about to start virtual kindergarten with my son, I am sympathetic to all involved.

With that, schools are making the best of a truly unique situation. Last week, I saw the amazing “What’s Poppin” viral video from Ms. Williams and Ms. Evans, two educators in Albany, Georgia, who used hip-hop to welcome their students back.

This weekend, I saw the release of Northside’s very own John Marshall High School’s “Tap In” video, featuring Ms. (Latonia) Kelley and Principle Ms. (Monica) Murray. “Tap In” is a hit song by California MC Saweetie, who made great use of Too Short’s iconic song “Blow the Whistle.” There is so much joy in this video, and the bars are pretty song.

Oh, and the Icy Girl saw the video herself and posted the following on Twitter:

Great work, Justices! #WESEEIT
