MEET MALIK RADFORD: A 2019 RENAISSANCE MAN

Name? Malik Radford

People call you? People call me Malik, Leek, or Radford

Website: https://malikradford.weebly.com/

You are truly a 2019 renaissance man (Visual Art, Digital Art, Music), how do you describe all the creative things you do? I’d describe all the things that I do as my superpower(s). The ability to bring any idea to life. I’m a superhero.

What are you most known for in these Richmond Streets? I’m probably known for being that dude who did “that Get Out piece” or just having “that dope work on IG.”

“that Get Out piece” Malik Radford

How do you describe your sound as a musician? My sound is inspired by Tyler The Creator and Toro Y Moi, but the best way I can describe is just…Rdfrd.

If you had your choice, what brand would you collaborate with? (And on what type of project?)  I’d collab with Vans to create a line of signature sneakers and maybe an animated mini-series about my experience working in their store.

You’ve done a ton of visual projects, to date, do you have a favorite? My favorite pieces are my self-portraits. That’s where my creativity seems to wanna blossom the most.

Random Saturday night in Richmond, where are you going? I’m staying at home. People don’t know how to act in Richmond lol just kidding. I don’t go out much but if I do, it’s probably to The Circuit or to a movie at Bowtie.

Favorite Meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)? Breakfast. huevos always for the win.

Your key to being creative? Not wanting to be bored and being outside. And not questioning my own creativity. If I have an idea, I’m just gonna do it.

Name a creative that you follow that always keeps you guessing? Tyler the Creator.

Last book you read? Why Are All The Black Kids Sitting Together In The Cafeteria: And Other Conversations About Race by Beverly Daniel Tatum, PhD.

Last album you heard from start to finish? Is He Real? by IDK.

Do you believe in ghost? Ghosts are real af but I think they come in the form of energy and maybe even Deja Vu.
