RICHMOND BLACK RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE STARTS TODAY! [MARCH 1-8]

WHERE CULTURE MEETS CUISINE – Today marks the start of the sixth annual Richmond Black Restaurant Experience with their signature kickoff event “Mobile Soul Sunday” at Kanawha Plaza from noon to 5 PM.

Richmond Black Restaurant Experience, created by Amy Wentz, Shemicia Bowen, and Kelli Lemon, is designed to promote economic diversity in Richmond’s thriving restaurant scene while celebrating Richmond’s black-owned restaurants and culinary professionals.

This year’s experience will showcase 35 participating black-owned restaurants and food industry professionals (food trucks, caterers, private chefs, etc.) In 2018, over 32,000 people experienced the 8-day event, bringing in over 1.8 million in total sales over the last 3 years. This year, like years past, Richmond Black Restaurant Experience will donate a portion of their profits to a Richmond nonprofit, this year they have partnered with the Urban League of Greater Richmond, Young Professionals.

The experience ends on March 8th with “Stick a Fork in it” at the Altria Theatre from noon to 5 PM, which will feature small plates priced at $3-5, along with an artisan market, tasting contests and cooking demonstrations.
