#STRONGERTHANCANCER: ASK FOUNDATION RAISED OVER 156K THIS WEEKEND TO SUPPORT CENTRAL VA FAMILIES

Last Saturday, was the Annual ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation 5K and Fun Walk to raise money for the amazing mission of ASK. It was simply one of the best events that my family has ever participated in. The day and overall effort surpassed all of ASK’s pre-set goal and ultimately raised over $156K to support Central Virginia’s largest and most comprehensive provider of support services for children with cancer, and other blood diseases such as sickle cell, and their families.

I can’t say for certain but I believe there were approximately 140 individual teams that participated and raised money. The fun festival, which took place at The Diamond, featured a DJ (S/O the homie Anthony from Little Nomads), Fun Bus, bounce house, and guest appearances from Nuttzy, Storm Troopers, Cinderella and my personal favorite Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. The weather was perfect and the high-fives, smiles, and hugs were countless.

This was my first year participating in the race. In March of 2015, my son Cameron was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. Aria and I were terrified of how this disease would impact our then 5-month-old. The foundation and its Clinic at VCU Medical Center provides support, guidance and top-notch medical treatment. We can’t thank the nurses, doctors, and staff enough. Participating in the walk to support this amazing foundation was our absolute pleasure.

While The Cheats Movement didn’t captain a team this year, you can always donate directly to ASK through their website and Facebook page. I hope you will take a look and consider doing so. #WESEEIT
